. . . Upcoming Events . . We are currently enrolling for the 2012-2013 school year. We are open for visits each weekday from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm - no appointment necessary. Thank you. . . . Sign ups for 2012 Summer Camp are going on now. Here is a flyer with information. If you have questions or would like to sign up, please contact the preschool office as soon as possible. . Thursday, May 24, ALL DAY, we will be having our last fundraiser of the school year at California Pizza Kitchen, in the Simi Valley Town Center. We hope to see you all there! Please download a flyer HERE. . The school will be closed Monday, 5/28, in observance of Memorial Day. . VBS for Simi Covenant Church will be taking place the week of July 9 - 13. Sign ups will be on Wednesday, May 30, at 6:30pm. As this event is very popular, we expect it will fill up on this evening. Forms are available on the church website (there is a link on the preschool home page). If you have questions, please contact the church office at (805)526-8855. . Our last days of school will be Wednesday and Thursday, 6/6 & 7. We will be having special celebrations in our Younger and Older Units. Watch your child's cubby and the classroom boards for information as the time grows closer. . We're glad you came to visit! Simi Covenant Preschool is committed to providing Simi Valley and the surrounding community with a high quality preschool which exalts Jesus Christ and shares His love with all we serve. Our school is an outreach of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Simi Valley. We strive to provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children within a safe, secure environment. We strive to meet the standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the State of California. |

At Simi Covenant Preschool we believe that God creates each child as a unique and special individual. We believe that children and families are important to God and that they are loved unconditionally by God. Therefore, we believe it is important to share God's Word with young children, to present basic Bible truths to them, and to intorduce them to Jesus Christ. We adhere to these basic principles of child development. Child development occurs in a number of different areas at the same time, it is sequential, and one area of development affects another. Children have individual rates of development that depend on both inherited characteristics and environmental experiences. Development moves from simple to complex, and it is considered to occur in stages. Individual development is a combination of maturation and learning. Each child has an individual learning style. At Simi Covenant Preschool the staff provides an environment that encompasses a wide variety of developmentally appropriate early childhood experiences (cognitive, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual). We believe that children should be encouraged to explore and discover, to create and imagine. We believe that children should be encouraged to make choices, and to become more self-sufficient, but also to learn to participate and contribute to a group activity. We believe young children learn best through play. In addition, we believe that preschool should be a place where children have lots of fun! |
