We are currently enrolling students for the 2010-11 school year. We still have openings in our Older Unit (4-year old) 2-day programs, both short and long day; and our Younger Unit (3-year old) 2 & 3-day programs. If you are interested or know anyone who may be, please let us know. We are in the office Monday - Thursday from 9:00 - 2:00 during the summer. August 26, 2010 - Parent Orientation and Back-T0-School at 7:00pm. We will begin in the Worship Center where programs and policies will be reviewed. Then we will go to the classrooms where you will have an opportunity to meet your child's teachers and see what a typical day will be. We hope to see all of parent at this meeting. There will be no child care available during this meeting. It is designed for parents only.

August 27 - Parent/Child Orientation. Parents and students will come for one hour with Mom or Dad staying the whole time, while they have an opporunity to get acquainted with the room, teachers, and other children. Please do not bring siblings to that your child has your full time and attention. If you have questions about this event, please contact the preschool office.

3-day children & parents will attend from 9:00 - 10:00

2-day children & parents will attend from 10:30 - 11:30

Simi Covenant Preschool is committed to providing Simi Valley and the surrounding community with a high quality preschool which exalts Jesus Christ and shares His love with all we serve.  Our school is an outreach of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Simi Valley.  We strive to provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children within a safe, secure environment.  We strive to meet the standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the State of California.

At Simi Covenant Preschool we believe that God creates each child as a unique and special individual. We believe that children and families are important to God and that they are loved unconditionally by God. Therefore, we believe it is important to share God's Word with young children, to present basic Bible truths to them, and to intorduce them to Jesus Christ.

 

We adhere to these basic principles of child development. Child development occurs in a number of different areas at the same time, it is sequential, and one area of development affects another. Children have individual rates of development that depend on both inherited characteristics and environmental experiences. Development moves from simple to complex, and it is considered to occur in stages. Individual development is a combination of maturation and learning. Each child has an individual learning style.

 

At Simi Covenant Preschool the staff provides an environment that encompasses a wide variety of developmentally appropriate early childhood experiences (cognitive, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual). We believe that children should be encouraged to explore and discover, to create and imagine. We believe that children should be encouraged to make choices, and to become more self-sufficient, but also to learn to participate and contribute to a group activity. We believe young children learn best through play. In addition, we believe that preschool should be a place where children have lots of fun!
