. . . Upcoming Events . . We still have openings for the 2011-2012 school year. If you are interested in attending the school or know somebody who is, please contact the preschool office or come by and visit us! Thank you. . Saturday, 2/4/12, is our Science Fair from 9:00am - 12:00pm. This is a wonderful time for families who's parents work during the week to come and visit the school and see what we are all about. All of the classrooms will be open, with teachers to assist, each with a different theme to explore and experiements to perform. If you have questions, please contact the preschool office. We look forward to seeing you there! . Fall enrollment for current students will begin on Monday, 2/6/12. Younger unit students should have received a form in your child's cubby this week. If you did not receive one, please contact the preschool office. Older unit students, if considering returning to the school, can talk with their child's teacher to obtain a form. The office will be open at 8:00am on Moday, 2/6/12. . We will be celebrating Valentine's Day in the classrooms on Monday & Tuesday, 2/13 & 14. If you need information about these celebrations, please look at the newsletters posted for February or talk with your child's teacher. . The school will be closed on Monday, 2/20/12, in observance of Presidents Day. . . We're glad you came to visit! Simi Covenant Preschool is licensed by the State of California and currently working on re-accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). |

Simi Covenant Preschool is committed to providing Simi Valley and the surrounding community with a high quality preschool which exalts Jesus Christ and shares His love with all we serve. Our school is an outreach of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Simi Valley. We strive to provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children within a safe, secure environment. We strive to meet the standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the State of California. |

At Simi Covenant Preschool we believe that God creates each child as a unique and special individual. We believe that children and families are important to God and that they are loved unconditionally by God. Therefore, we believe it is important to share God's Word with young children, to present basic Bible truths to them, and to intorduce them to Jesus Christ. We adhere to these basic principles of child development. Child development occurs in a number of different areas at the same time, it is sequential, and one area of development affects another. Children have individual rates of development that depend on both inherited characteristics and environmental experiences. Development moves from simple to complex, and it is considered to occur in stages. Individual development is a combination of maturation and learning. Each child has an individual learning style. At Simi Covenant Preschool the staff provides an environment that encompasses a wide variety of developmentally appropriate early childhood experiences (cognitive, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual). We believe that children should be encouraged to explore and discover, to create and imagine. We believe that children should be encouraged to make choices, and to become more self-sufficient, but also to learn to participate and contribute to a group activity. We believe young children learn best through play. In addition, we believe that preschool should be a place where children have lots of fun! |
